"Maternity wards and consultant led unit"

About: Lister Hospital

Anything else?

I received first class care during my labour last week. Due to complications I was rushed in for an emergency C Section. Staff were brilliant at involving me and my partner in the decision process. Following the delivery of our son both doctors and midwives explained what had a happened and reassured me at every juncture. They regularly checked on my physical and mental well being, always available to answer questions or meet mine or my sons needs. Having never stayed in hospital and being quite nervous about the whole thing I was very pleasantly surprised. Staff cared a great deal about my well being. I know that the care I received was of the highest caliber and I cannot thank all the staff involved enough. This could have easily been a very traumatic experience but thanks to them it was a very positive experience.

Having an emergency caesarian section is always a worrying time for any mother and their family as it often comes at the end of what has been a difficult labour. That's why it's so good to read of your experience - our staff, through being supremely professional and caring, turned a potentially negative experience in to a good one. And in doing so, they have given you and your new family a much better start than otherwise might have been the case. We will, of course, make sure that the team gets to read your kind words - but in the meantime, may we wish you, your partner - and your new son, of course - every happiness for the future.
