"The nursing staff on the surgical ..."

About: Royal Oldham Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The nursing staff on the surgical ward were excellent. They went out of their way to help and explain things. The surgeons and anaesthatist were also very good, friendly and explained things well. My only criticism, and it's quite a major one, is that I was unable to get any pain relief prescribed for over 12 hours as the nurses could not get hold of a doctor after 6pm.

What could be improved

Availability of doctors outside "normal" working/theatre hours. It is not really acceptable for a patient to have no pain relief whatsoever following a surgical procedure
