"Slow at Breast clinic Macclesfield General"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital / Day case unit

(as a relative),

I accompanied my 84 year old Aunt whilst she attended Macclesfield General for a suspect breast lump. Letter said allow 3 hours. After arriving 20 mins early we were taken through on time. After being weighed and changing in to a gown we then sat in a corridor for an hour before seeing a doctor. Then told need a ultra sound and mammogram. Hour wait for mammogram and 45 min wait after that for ultrasound. Then wait again for doctor. All in all 4 and half hours.

This really is unacceptable. No refreshment facilities, no explanation and no apology. After a complaint from one lady someone did offer a hot drink though.

Staff were pleasant and appeared busy, but there has to be something wrong with a system that flows so slowly surely. Needs reviewing.
