I overdosed 3 years ago and ever since I've had nothing but bad experiences with CAMHS.
In 2010 I was referred to CAMHS for the first time and I felt so stupid and scared every time I went not quite knowing what to do with myself or say because nothing was quite getting through to the person I saw there. I was (through school) also refereed to the school nurse who came in one a week for an hours chat.
1 I seen the nurse more than I seen CAMHS
2 The nurse didn't make me feel like crap
3 The school nurse was overall so much more helpful
So I stopped seeing CAMHS and so stopped seeing the school nurse as well.
I went back to being me for a while but I was told to see my gp after telling my guidance teacher I had started to self harm and so I went to the gp to be met with the same look I got off of the member of staff I had seen at CAMHS years previous that you are absolutely out of it look, but finally got referred to CAMHS once more to meet a member of staff who can't seem to keep appointments but I have also started see the school nurse again and I swear they are so much more reliable. I've also still not been put on medication I was promised months ago for various things. They also gave me a diagnosis and never ever has it been mentioned again and anytime I mention it they just say the doctor hasn't got back to them from 4 months ago!
