"Great experience and great midwives"

Anything else?

The biggest mistake we made was reading the reviews on this website two days before going to hospital. On reading the majority of negative reviews, our experience could not be further. All through the appointments the midwife team were great, could be a bit more punctual with appointments buy still support wise great. We had to visit the Fetal Monitoring Unit at QE one evening, two midwives were great apologetic for the wait, busy unit and very efficient. When my wife went for induction we met the midwife again that we saw at Fetal Monitoring Unit, a young lady, brilliant just regret not catching the name, who was supported by a third year midwife student, again kept us informed regarding the delay as the delivery suite was busy, made us feel comfortable, relaxed at a challenging time, nothing more you could have asked for. On the Sunday we had a senior midwife, after about 30 seconds in her presence you know she was experienced, and knew what she was doing which was reassuring, polite and professional, brilliant. During labour, she took us to the delivery ward, stayed with us until my wife was settled, and even came back afterwards to check on us and the baby which was something we did not expect and something she did not need to do, but great service. Midwife and doctors at delivery were brilliant, their calmness really helped us, and let us stay in the busy delivery suite for approx 2.5/3 hours later, so not rushed at all and time to spend with our new family member, they even let grandparents come in to the delivery suite as it would have been too late for them on the ward. There were some people who were more focused on the their jobs and processes instead of the patient, however its a very busy unit, but as mentioned the majority as above were brilliant. Hospital was I have to say was spotless corridors and wards clean, staff clean and tidy, again a busy unit. If you are reading these reviews going there for a baby, there are some great midwives and doctors there, our experience was not as other reviews. If we plan on having another baby would not hesitate to use QE. Last but not least a big thank you!
