I have Hughes Syndrome, unfortunately like many people I have Seronegative Hughes Syndrome which does exist, as an NHS patient I attended the very informative lectures at St Thomas' Hospital for their Hughes Syndrome Patients Day - and for the last two years the subject of Seronegative Hughes was talked about by well respected medical staff. I was informed as were other members of the public and medical staff in attendance that it was so very important to take a clinical history into consideration. Being discharged back into the community to manage my condition where there is little support for Hughes Syndrome, let alone Sero Negative Hughes Syndrome is not a viable option. St Thomas and the NHS have to ask themselves is it cheaper to look after a patient who has had a stroke due to repeated admission due to incorrect medication and guidance? or is it better to manage my care in a modern and up to date manner. St Thomas' appears to be losing it's edge in terms of helping very ill patients. Riding rough shod over ill patients like myself has put myself and family in an intolerable position, and complaints rather than good care cost hospitals dearly in terms of reputation and hard cash lost!
