"I was admitted by ambulance in ..."

About: North Manchester General Hospital North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was admitted by ambulance in the early hours of the morning, as I was in terrible pain. The ambulance staff couldn't have helped more, and assisted in reducing my pain.

The A&E staff were fantastic and helped in reducing my pain. They were kind, polite, informative at all times, letting me know what was happening and what would happen next. They treated me so well, and were happy to answer my questions

I was transferred to F4 and the staff there worked very hard in making every patient comfortable and provided great support and care for the duration of my stay.

What could be improved

I spent about 12 hours on H3. The nature of the ward is a stop gap until a vacant bed is available on the wards. Although the staff worked hard, some of the care wasn't as good there as it was on the ward. For example, the morning drugs round was late and I didn't get my diabetic medication until quite late. I was also told by my doctor at 11.15am (with a nurse present) to drink plenty of water due to a likely kidney infection. I asked 5 times for a jug of water and didn't get one until 4.30pm.
