Anything else?
A few months ago, after having dry AMD for several years, one eye developed wetAMD very rapidly. At the time i was terrified i would lose my sight. When i attended the Clinic i received reassurance that i would not & that treatment would start as soon as i met the criteria laid down by NICE. This was the most frightening part as i had to go home & just wait as my sight worsened until i met the NICE criteria. Obviously they have to start somewhere but waiting until you can hardly see does not seem right! When i met the criteria the consultant was amazingly gentle when giving the Lucentis injection into the eye. Not pleasant but certainly worth the panic as i have been extremely lucky so far in that my sight is better than when i had the first injection so that i can still read. Hoping & praying that this lasts as i have had my 3 injections now. I cannot praise the team highly enough especially on the day when they were running about 2 hours late & many people were complaining. They obviously did not see everyone of the staff from consultant down trying to cope, smiling & reassuring people that needed it. Wonderful people all, who i cannot thank enough for their time & care.
