"Labour Ward/maternity Services"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute)

Anything else?

I have nothing but praise for the way the induction and delivery of my 2nd daughter and the following aftercare were delivered at Northampton General Hospital last week. Although the induction could not take place on the original planned date (due to there not being enough beds and it would have been unsafe) we returned the following day. Excellent care on the Maternity Observation Unit, and when I was moved to the labour ward the following day to have my waters broken all the midwifes and other staff were fantastic. The support and care during the labour was excellent and the delivery smooth and I felt completely supported throughout. After the delivery I was moved to Robert Watson ward at about 2am. I was unwell and unable to stand so the midwife assigned to me took care of my baby throughout the night - this was of great comfort as I was very worried about how I would care for her and this allowed me to sleep and recover overnight. In total I was in for 3 days (2 nights). Although the hospital is an old building it appeared spotlessly clean with good facilities. I also was also very surprised at the quality of the food - more than happy. Overall - great job NGH - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the unit to anyone.

That's fantastic - thank you Jenni. We hope your little girl is doing well, and we'll pass on your kind comments to our maternity staff.
