"no treatment at fgh for skin conditions"

About: Furness General Hospital

Anything else?

it is a disgrace that fgh no longer has a sunbed for the treatment of Psoriasis. i have had this depressing skin condition for over 40 years and used to to to fgh for use on the special sunbed, it was the only thing that cleared me of it. i know lots of people with this condition who are the same. my 16 year old daughter now has it and is distraught. the only way she can get light treatment is to go to Lancaster 3 times a week, which is impossible due to it being too far away, 2 bus journeys, a train journey, then more buses, would take all day to get there, too expensive and cannot afford time off college/work to go, so she just has to suffer in silence. total disgrace, but nobody cares, i am trying to get a petition up to get one and am in the process of contacting the local Evening Mail to help with support about getting a sunbed at the hospital

We apologise that the service was suspended at Furness General Hospital in September 2012. This was due to the concerns regarding the service at that site. Since then the service has been undertaken from Royal Lancaster Infirmary but we hope to re-instate the service at Furness shortly – managed by the dermatology department. We apologise for the inconvenience in the meantime, but this was in the interests of the safety of patients
