"Waiting times"

I have been placed on the waiting list for a hysterectomy 5 months ago. When I have rung the department for information in relation to waiting times, I am very pleasantly given information which gives me no idea how long I will be waiting for this surgery. I have been told there are only two theatre list each week with one major and three minors booked in and emergency and diagnosed cancer have priority......rightly so. But realistically all I want to know is when my surgery is likely to be.

I would like to say that everyone I have come into contact with since my problems started over a year ago, have been very kind, respectfully and dedicated. My problem is the anxiety and stress the ongoing waiting and not knowing when I will have resolution to this problem is affecting my quality of life. I have even considered private treatment but unfortunatly the cost is out of my reach.

I am aware of Nice guidelines in relation to waiting times and I am very close to this timescale and hope that I may be lucky that this can be achieved.
