"Patience of hospital staff caring for my mother in law and others"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

My mother in law was admitted into the Clinical Decision Unit at WHH after she became very unwell in a Nursing Home.

The staff there were very fabulous and treated her and us the family with kindness and compassion. The Consultant and her team took their time to talk to us and tell us what was happening.

My mother in law eventually ended up on Cambridge L where she was encouraged to start on her pathway back to health. The support of the nursing staff, physios and Medics was continuous in what was an challenging environment.

There were several patients in the bay that my mother in law was in that were very confused. The nursing staff displayed nothing but patience and kindness even when faced with very challenging verbal and at times, physical aggression.

Thank you so much for taking time to give us such kind feedback about your mother in law's experience. I will ensure that staff on CDU and Cambridge L ward receive your feedback. We agree and are proud of our teams who strive to provide great care to patients, many are frail and vulnerable. For me this reflects the excellent leadership of each ward, setting the tone and inspiring their team to provide high standards of care.

Thank you again and I do hope your mother in law is recovering well from her illness.
