Anything else?
My elderly Mother was admitted to A&E after a serious fall and I simply cannot fault the care and compassion shown by all of those I came into contact with. I arrived at 0130 aftera 250 mile drive to be greeted by name and was immediately taken to the ward where my Mother was being cared for. I had already had a detailed briefing by phone on her condition and had been gently prepared for the worst and sadly she passed away 12 hours later. The consultants, nursing staff, volunteers (non-stop tea and biscuits - many thanks), receptionist, cashier etc were some of the nicest and most professional people I could wish to deal with not the least because of the subsequent need for a post-mortem and coroner involvement. At a time when it is fashionable to carp at the NHS and highlight perceived failings this was a timely reminder of the excellence of both people and faciities that goes largely unsung and unoticed by those who seek to promote negativity. Well done all the Torbay team.
