My grandson who is 23 months old had climbed out of his cot and obviously broken his arm. We arrived at A and E at 1. 30 with him crying very loudly, in pain. I was told to sit in the waiting area. After 30 minutes of crying, he fell into an exhausted sleep. It was a full hour after that before we were called to the next waiting area and saw a nurse for the first time. After that the treatment we got was faultless and my grandson was admitted to York hill the next day to have his arm set under anesthetic. I think it's really bad that although the arm was obviously broken and he was in pain, we did not see anyone with medical training for 90 minutes. Eight adults had been called in front of us. Where was the triage nurse and why was my grandson not given some kind of pain relief? ? ? ?
