"one very scared patient"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

i went into hospital on the 8th of september for a sub total hysterectomy. i was not scared i was petrified. from the start the nurse could see iwas an emotional mess and tried to put me at ease when she realised it was the anaesthetic as i had never had one and was scared i,d never wake up she brought the anaesthetist to see me who explained the procedure to me although i did not calm down much least i understood what was going to happen to me. The nurse kept checking on me trying to put me at ease which looking back i was thankful for i didn,t feel so alone. Both doctors that came to see me before the operation were extremely understanding and i can,t thank them enough. When it was time to go for my operation and was in the anaesthetics room the team in therewere great i was talked through every stage the next thing i know i,m in recovery, When back on the ward i was not very well being sick but nothing was too much trouble for the nurses on duty. The night staff were just as good and found a medicine that worked and stopped me from being sick. My recovery was made easier by the doctor and nurses support and advice. The orderlies that came round with that welcome cup of tea were friendly, food was not the best. Idid that well i was allowed home on my third day.I cann,t thank the doctors, nurses, orderlies on ward 12 enough for making a difficult time easier.
