"I was recently in for a lumbar ..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was recently in for a lumbar puncture and was given an overnight bed due to having to travel a long distance, the staff i met on 2c were brilliant, very friendly and helpful, the Doctor who did the procedure explained everything really well, and apart from the 30 seconds of stinging due to the anaesthetic, it was painless. The aftercare was great from ALL staff. The cleaning staff were thorough in their work and very friendly ( in other hospitals i found that cleaning staff are treated as invisible by other staff ).

i certainly would have no worries about having to stay any time on 2c.

What could be improved

The number of toilets and showers. even though its an investigatory ward, quite a few men and women using very few facilities, can be embarrassing.

We do provide single sex accommodation and separate shower and bathroom facilities for men and women. However, on occassions, such as to enable cleaning or for maintenance, some shower or bathroom facilities will be out of action and patients will be required to use those facilities which are available. We are delighted that you would be happy to be cared for by the Trust in the future but apologise for any inconvenience or embarrassment that your concerns about the shower facilities may have caused.
