"CBT for needle phobia has made a big difference"

About: Inclusion Matters Liverpool

(as the patient),

I was referred to Inclusion Matters Liverpool by my GP for CBT treatment for needle phobia.

There was a bit of a wait to have the first appointment but that's understandable. There was also flexibility in appointment times, so I could see someone after work.

The treatment was great and I have made real progress. The therapist, Sam, was really helpful. She started by explaining my phobia and how CBT worked. We worked out each stage in graded exposure one step at a time. This worked really well. The therapy has made a big difference- when I started the therapy I was anxious looking at a drawing of a syringe and needle. I can now watch people have injections, have a finger-tip blood glucose test and plan to have an injection soon.

If you're considering getting treatment for a phobia at Inclusion Matters I'd definitely recommend it- it's made a big difference to me.

Dear anonymous patient,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your treatment and our service. I am glad that you found the service flexible to your needs and you found the wait for your first appointment understandable. We are constantly looking at ways to improve access to the service.

It’s really good to know that you found the work you did with Sam helpful and you have made good progress in combatting your needle phobia. I am sure your comments will encourage other people to consider having treatment in the future.

I will ensure that Sam receives the positive feedback from yourself and wish you well.

Best wishes

Jeanette
