"After waiting 5 and a half hours ..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

After waiting 5 and a half hours in A&E on a busy night, the staff in there were up beat and friendly, and apart from not having the right dressing to administer when I as seen, the attitudes of all nurses and doctors were a credit to them and the hospital

What could be improved

Returning to A&E for an early morning appointment, there was a gentleman with a serious injury to his foot. There was a trail of blood from the car park right up to the reception desk. The amount of blood obstructing the desk was pretty horrific. I have no idea how long he had been there, but it took 40 minutes from when we arrived for it to be cleaned up.

Further to this, the referral that I was promised as an outcome of my second visit, 7 weeks on, I have found out that it was never made. The notes were sat in A&E, and in the words of the person I spoke to on the NHS appointment help line, I had probably been forgotten.

7 weeks since my knee injury, I am yet to be diagnosed due to an internal error and am completely immobile, and could be doing more harm than good.
