"A&E doctor spotted my condition - thank you!"

Towards the end of 2012, I had cause to visit the A & E department with my mother, who had been taken in by ambulance.

Initially, the Doctor seemed more concerned with ME, rather than my mother. He said that he had noticed the puffiness in my hands, and asked if I had seen my GP about it. I told him that I hadn't. He told me that he thought I ought to see him soon.

I thought nothing more of this until a few weeks later when our GP visited my mother at home. I told him what the A & E doctor had said, and he arranged blood tests etc. , which confirmed a diagnosis of Hypothyroidism.

My blood TSH level was 212, - the recommended maximum level is about 4. 5. Since then I have been reading up on the condition, and realise just how serious untreated hypothyroidism can be as it affects every part of the body.

Can be fatal in worst case scenario.
