"A good care experience"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat Royal Stoke University Hospital / Neurology

(as the patient),

Around two years ago I had the misfortune to experience a seizure to my left hand, arm, torso, shoulder, neck, ear, face, tongue and nose, which lasted for about 25 minutes.

Being encouraged by my wife and friends to see my Doctor it was diagnosed that I may have had a transient ischaemic attack (TIA). I therefore attended the Department of Neurology as an Out Patient. Unfortunately the seizures recurred on a fairly regular basis and brain scans revealed a problem with the right side of my brain. I was admitted to the old Ward 10 for about 1 week for closer observation and tests. After discharge from there I have continued to attend various Departments as an Out Patient and after two years have now been completely discharged.

Throughout this entire time I can say that, without exception, the experience has been made more palatable than it might have been due to all varieties of Hospital staff, including Consultants, Nurses, Tea Ladies, Car Park Attendants, Restaurant staff, Admin staff and Technicians etc. Also, at this time the staff had the difficulty of moving into the new hospital.

I can only thank all concerned and say that the Britannia Stadium is not the only place to have a Premiership team.

There was one particular Professor and the Professor's team who gave me much needed guidance and reassurance during the early months. I conclude that we are extremely lucky to have the City General Hospital in North Staffordshire.
