My partner and I brought our 13 month old son into a and e Sunday evening (1st of September) after a trip, we were initially seen my a doctor after half an hour which was great as I appreciate the department is busy. However we were then asked to wait to be xrayed, after 2 and a half hours we were still not seen with only one child ahead of us. My partner went to find someone to ask how much longer we would have to wait as it was now 10 o clock and my son had started to get restless. We were then told to wait for a further 15mins before a member of staff had told us due to a shift change our information had not been given to them and we were not even on their list!! I find this appalling as an adult but as this was a child just over a year it was simply unacceptable. We were then seen by a second lady doctor who did the same examination as we had had now 3 hours previous, although once we had seen her things did get moving and she was great with my son. When my son was finally x rayed he was inconsolable with had a fractured shin and had been sat with this injury for nearly 4 hours by the time we left with him in a cast! I don't know how this sort of mistake can be made these days in a department that is so important and especially with a small child. It doesn't not fill me with confidence and I am very disappointed with my sons care. Now 1 day later and I'm having to take him back as the cast has split! To be honest I am dreading it!
