My daughter had a raging fever and was behaving unusually. A&E did exactly the right things and discussed with us what they were doing and why, even though they had not reached a diagnosis. We were passed to pediatrics where my wife and daughter stayed for ten days. Approx day 2 or 3 we got the diagnosis of septicemia and around day 4 we noticed she wasn't using her leg properly and the infection had entered the bone. Our experience of the staff was a high level of professionalism and wonderful caring skill, from both nurses and consultants. These people were just brilliant! They did their jobs impeccably and with a sense of humour and empathy that made us feel cared for, that made us feel we were in a process we could trust, that lifted our spirits when we got a bit low, and that delivered the right results. I can't say enough good things about them. If this is the NHS, God bless it!
