What could be improved
I visited A&E on 24th November at 7.30am. Initialy I was attended to quickly and a nurse took details and checked my temperature etc.I was then left in a cubicle for about 1 hour 15 minutes.During this time no one explained why there was such a long wait.Apparently there were staffing problems and I eventually saw a doctor at about 9.20am. Being kept waiting for this period of time with no explanation is not acceptable , particularly when general conversation could be heard from the nurses station with waiting patients being completly ignored.
I have to make a serious complaint about the state of the cubicle in which I was waiting. The cubicle was filthy , the floor particularly around the edges looked if had not been cleaned for months ,the floor generally had dirty black marks all over it , there was dried blood stains in places ,there were items of rubbish under the bed trolley , and the under carriage of the trolley and in particular the wheels were filthy.Talking to the genleman in the next cubicle the conditions in his cubicle were similar. The corridor access to the cubicles also had a filthy floor. I find this situation totally unacceptable and surely one that will significantly add to the problems of bugs in the hospital.
