What I liked

the care and attention given to all patients, the friendly faces of all the staff and the high quality of nursing care.This is my third stay on Sitwell ward in the last six months and I can honestly say that I can find no fault with the quality of care on this ward.

All the staff are to be congratulated for their efforts

What could be improved

my concern is with the visitors who do not obey the rules and insist on sitting on beds and breaking the 2 visitor rule. This is not the way to overcome MRSA and the like and I feel sorry for the staff who have to approach relatives and friends about this as it can cause problems for them.

Lets have bigger posters informing visitors of the reasons for the rules and hopefuly they will take some notice. It seems a waste of money getting patients to use biological body wash prior to addmission then visitors contaminating the ward.

Thank you for your kind comments about the staff of Sitwell ward, I will make sure they are passed to them.

We appreciate you taking the time to tell us your suggestions for improvement which will be taken account.

We are currently revising our visiting arrangements and when finalised the guidelines will be posted on the Trust website and there will be posters informing visitors of our requirements e.g. the number of visitors per patient, hand hygiene, not visiting if they have a cold / infection themselves . Additionally work will be undertaken with staff to ensure they are equipped to apply the guidance fairly with sufficient flexibility re timing for those with exceptional circumstances.
