"Saved my life"

About: Worthing Hospital

Anything else?

On the 5th July 2013 I woke with pains in the right side of my chest these continued until I asked my husband to take me to the doctor, as very recently (first time) I had been treated for high blood pressure, I was mainly ignored even though I was clutching my chest and was in agony. Eventually I had an E.C.G. the doctor then said, well, there's nothing wrong with your heart. my husband and I thought thank god... they didn't seem bothered about my blood pressure I wasn't told what it was. I was given two paracetamol and told to go home and take gaviscon. The pain didn't get any easier so I asked my husband to take me to A&E he parked the car and we walked into A&E still clutching my chest.... within 2-3 minutes I was called, a nurse took my blood pressure , 240/ and said " oh dear.. you are in pain aren't you" then quite calmly went to see someone and within seconds I had an oxygen mask on and it seemed like dozens of doctors were all around me very calmly but very efficiently , I was so relieved that someone believed me that I was in pain......within no time at all they told me I was having a massive heart attack and needed surgery instantly, they told my husband I only had 10 minutes so they quickly took me to theatre, I had an angiogram and then 3 stents put in, I was aware of things happening but I couldn't have cared what they did I was so grateful that I was believed...at last. I was in hospital on the cardiac ward for 4 days, very well looked after by amazing doctors & nurses. All I can say is thank you for saving my life. And maybe my own Drs surgery could learn from this.." when in doubt ....send for an ambulance" you nearly cost me my life
