Anything else?
I was taken by ambulance to this hospital in the early hours of the morning on Monday 19th August. I had phoned 111 and had given them my symptoms, they called an ambulance as my symptoms were that of a heart attack. The paramedic did test and decided I should attend the A & E. They took me into the hospital, gave the details to the nurse on arrival then put me in the waiting room. There was 1 person in the waiting room waiting for attention at the time. After 1 and a half hours my son asked the receptionist how long it would be before someone see me as I was in extreme pain. He was told it would be a few minutes, half an hour later he asked again and was told I would be the next one in, half an hour later after someone with a grazed knee had arrived and was taken through he asked again and was again told I was the next on the list, a gentleman turned up with a bad back and within minutes was taken through to be seen. All this time I was in a lot of pain and I had been in the waiting room for 3 hours, in all that time only 1 ambulance had arrived. I had not even been seen by the triage. At that point my son took me out to his car and drove me to Colchester hospital. On arrival we explained what had happened and within 5 minutes I was being seen and test carried out. It was not a heart attack but was a condition that needed to be treated as soon as possible. If given the choice I will never attend Broomfield again in an emergency, My son had warned me about the A & E there after he took his 2 year old there with a head injury and was left in the waiting room for over 2 hours, he also took his son away from there and went to Colchester where his son was treated straight away.
