I was due to have an operation at Bradford Royal Infirmary for the removal of my big toe nail from the root. As I have a number of health issues I was booked in for a pre-assessment at St Luke's Hospital.
I explained to the nurse that based upon previous experience I dehydrate very easily, and past doctors have recommended that I have a saline drip up before any operations to ensure that this doesn't happen. The nurse ignored this information, saying that I needn't worry and that it'll be fine.
On the day of my operation I was told it would take place at 4pm, so was unable to eat throughout the day. I was put under, but brought around again as my operation was delayed. As I hadn't had a saline drip connected to me, when I came around I was feeling very dehydrated and disorientated. I was trying to speak to people, but was unable to and I couldn't fully understand what was being said to me, it was extremely distressing.
