"horrible experience"

About: Watford General Hospital

Anything else?

I was left laying on a bed, freezing cold as no blanket was provided. no-one spoke to me after i was left there, laid there for hours. I've been very very depressed and stupidly took too many tablets which I immediately regretted. I was feeling terribly guilty that I had self-inflicted but when you're feeling like that you really need help. I gave up and went home. just hope that I am going to be ok, All they needed to do was give me something to make me sick, I can't see that would have taken more than 2 minutes, but they just left me to lay there and didn't tell me anything. I suppose they felt they''d be better off with one less patient I can sort of understand that, but I thought better of the "caring" profession. On a plus point, I did hear a doctor very kindly talking to an elderly patient who'd sustained a fall, explaining that it wasn't as simple as treating the injury' they needed to work out why she'd fallen in the first place. So maybe if i'd had the opportunity to see a doctor I would have had a better experience. I believe the nursing staff need some training in communication. I also think it's pretty awful if the nurse that puts you in cubicle makes you remove your clothes and then doesn't provide a cover, tell you where the toilet is, where you can get some water and what exactly will be happening. All these things are basic humanity. I can understand they may well have been overworked and overtired but it's the little things that can make such a difference.
