"waiting times for dental treatment"

About: Poole General Hospital

Anything else?

I attended a dental appointment on May 28th 2013. I requested a GA as I am absolutely petrified of dentists and it is a wisdom tooth which has only half come through and due to a previous bad experience having a wisdom tooth out by injection I could not face this again. My dentist initially ignored my request and referred me for sudation. I was not happy with this and insisted i was referred for GA. this was two weeks after initial referral and appointment. I have since been prescribed tramadol for the pain and have basically lived on the highest dose along with ibrufen and paracetamol since the beginning of June. I have been taken to A & E and been back to the dentist due to pain even before my appointment for the hospital was fixed. I then found out at the hospital the referral was not what the dentist told me it was going to be and they were unaware I wanted a GA. I was then sent for a pre op and i am supposed to be being referred to Swanage hospital. Yet another two weeks has passed and I still have not had an appointment through. I was also kept waiting for well over an hour after my appointment time. My total waiting time is now nearly 10 weeks. I never take medication and am very rarely ill. I have been nothing but sick since being on all this medication, I am walking around like a spaced out junkie 24/7 I cannot exercise I cannot keep food down and I know i am going to have issues when I stop this medication due to it being addictive. Im absolutely disgusted with the NHS waiting time. It is not only causing issues for my body and health, the pain is ruling my life. It is unacceptable that people should be made to take serious medication to treat symptoms instead of the problem being sorted out forethwith. If i was able to afford private health and dental care I would definately pay for it as the NHS dentist and hospitals are a complete joke.
