Anything else?

I gave birth to my daughter isabella on her due date 30th july in MLU giving birth went brilliant but unfortunatly my placenta had got stuck as my cervix had closed straight after my daughter was born although i was scared of not knowing what would happen to me the midwives i had taking care of me one of which was a trainee were fantastic at keeping me calm and doing all they could to help deliver the placenta though nothing could shift it so i was told by the midwifes excatly what steps would be taken next to get it out i ended up having to go to theatre and at my choice under general scared out of my skin and knowing id be wisked away quick i panicked about not seein my baby but both the midwives were still by my side making sure i was reasurred my partner and baby would be looked after. I was told the trainee midwife would stay with me as i was so scared and like i was told she was the last face i saw when i was put under and the first i saw when i woke up and the other midewife came to check on me at the end of her shift to let me know my daughter and partner were looked after by her they were both just fantastic with the care we received from them they both really did stretch to the limit i am thankful for all they did for us. I also did receive brilliant care from all the midwives on the ward i was on though after recovering from losing alot of blood in theatre i can not remember which i was on but as i wasreally weak and my blood count was low i had to have them get my baby for her feeds appy changes toilet everything really for the first day and a half when my partner was at home and not once did i have to ask more then once or heard any of them complain. Would like to massivley thank everyone who had to look after me and the team of staff in theatre i will be eternally grateful for well for pretty much saving my life i know i lost alot of blood and ow how lucky i am to be here today so just again thank u to each and everyone of you i could not of had better care then i got from all of you.

We all love to read about birthing experiences that involve good natural deliveries, where mother and baby go home smiling within a few hours of labour starting. And whilst that happens for many new mothers, there are times when nature intervenes and things get complicated - and sometimes even life-threatening. But when this happens, it is even more important that the mother stays at the centre of everyone's thoughts - which sounds like exacly what happened in your case. Your feedback is a great account of how the midwifery team never left your side and made you feel as safe as you could be in what sounded like very traumatic circumstances. We're so pleased that your care was so good - although we suspect that our maternity colleagues will just say that this is the standard they achieve for new mothers every day of the week! We know that they will be delighted, however, to read your kind words and despite having what sounds like a very difficult start, both you, your husband and new baby are now enjoying your new life together.
