"A & E after car crash"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

Anything else?

I had a car accident on 16/08/2013 and was taken by ambulance to Basingstoke A&E. my car was cut into pieces to remove me out of the car after the accident. paramedics queried a spinal injury. I was treated throughout the incident by paramedics with the help of the fire brigade with great precaution, not allowed to move my neck etc. The paramedics, the fire brigade, the traffic police were all excellent. I cannot thank them enough. may they all be blessed. When the ambulance arrived A &E in Basingstoke, paramedics handed over to nurses. However, there seemed to be barely any nurses available to attend to me. I lay in the board, my head and upper body strapped for one hour fifteen minutes without being asked by anybody if I was ok or in pain. A doctor finally appeared, appeared agitated she did not ask me any thing. she just looked at me and wrote down some notes and went away, i did not see her again. When I was finally taken to X-Ray, i was told by the porter that it was a very busy Friday afternoon with not enough nurses. A nurse later came to me an hour after the X-Ray and told me that the results were fine and that i should go home. I requested a discharge note but was told that the doctors were too busy to give me one. My knee had started swelling but this was not looked after and when i mentioned this , i was ignored. i was unable to turn my neck and had terrible back ache but all was ignored. I was genuinely shocked by the poor treatment and the unprofessionalism that was displayed to me. I was admitted to a different hospital on the same night after being discharged from Basingstoke A&E, and after further X-Rays and MRI were carried out , it was found out that i had 2 fractured ribs on my left side, a fractured ankle and a dislocated right knee, no surprise to me because i was in so much pain and could not walk. I am very satisfied with care i am now receiving here, excellent care.
