Anything else?

I am in week 4, recovery , following having both feet operated on at same time, and I cannot believe how good I feel, and how narrow and straight my feet look. ( had a sneaky peek when bandages were changed) I was really worried about how I would cope , however it has not been even half as bad, as I thought Normally.I am on my feet all day at work , involving 11hr days, and I'd got to the stage where the pain was so bad that I didn't know how to get through each day.I was really apprehensive but knew I couldn't carry on any longer, without taking the plunge, and I'm so very glad I did.I needed big toes and little toes sorted out, The Surgeon has been excellent, a pain block was used in both feet and I had a G.A. Coming round and returning to the ward , I couldn't believe how good I felt (I'd previously had ,had both knees operated on) A bit nervous about the pain block but I needn't have been. I was amazed to be told I could go home the same day, yes please!!!! So a physio visited with crutches and not very attractive shoes! and put me through my paces, making sure I could reach the loo and go up/down stairs. My feet felt a little weird, bit like your mouth feels when you've had a filling but not painful as such.Day 2 was fine, days3-4 were a little painful as pain block was wearing off, however painkillers soon sorted that, and I can only say that since then I have gone from strength to strength, yes it's frustrating to be forced to rest so much, but it is only for a matter of weeks, and my feet do still swell when I have had to walk with crutches outside, but resting up soon relieves the discomfort. I'm aware that I'm not 'there' yet, but my advice to anyone , who is experiencing really painful feet is ,Go For It.Having both feet treated together, is a little more difficult for the first couple of weeks, but after that recovery is about the same and I believe it's been better than having to think about having to go through it all again !!!!! I am so looking forward to shoe shopping, I know I'll still be restricted, however I was already severely restricted as to shoes to wear, I was in widest fitting and still had to cut across tops to relieve pain, so I'm sure it won't be worse, and the pain is already so much better. Just to have choice will be fabulous.I hope this helps anyone who is as nervous as I was,at the Care Centre I attended under the N.H.S, I cannot speak highly enough of every single person that were involved in my care.
