"My 4 day stay was in CDU (Clinical ..."

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

My 4 day stay was in CDU (Clinical Decisions Unit I think?)

I arrived late on a Sunday evening, and was welcomed, and comforted by the staff on duty, and had procedures explained to me as they were done.

All the staff who dealt with me during my stay were friendly, reassuring, and responded to any question I asked.

The choice of food was very good (When I felt like eating anything!)

Lots of cleaning was carried out during the day.

The discharge procedure was smooth and well explained - prescription, sick note for work, note detailing treatment given, checking that I had transport available to get home.

What could be improved

Dificult to get much sleep - some noise is inevitable, but staff voices could be lowered a bit more during the small hours.

Thank you for your comments. I am pleased that you found your stay a positive experience on the whole.

Noise at night is a problem that has been highlighted before. For the emergency management unit and the clinial decisions unit it is a greater issue, because they take referrals throughout the night, as well as during the day.

However, I will make sure the matron for CDU is aware of your thoughts, so staff can be reminded that patients sometimes find noise prevents them sleeping.

I hope you are recovering well.
