(as the patient),

I had a very good experience with the 111 service when I called them on Sunday. Because it was the weekend, my GP's surgery was closed.

The woman I called rang back within 10/15 minutes and offered me an appointment at Queen Mary's Hospital, which has an out of hours unit. I was seen by a doctor within 30 minutes of calling them, which was great.

I was offered a home visit which would have taken 6 hours, so I decided to go to the hospital. However, it did take me a while to get down the stairs!

It turns out I had slipped a disc in my back, which has happened a couple of times before. I simply lent forward and it happened.
