"I was admitted to the ICU with ..."

About: Glenfield Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was admitted to the ICU with Pneumonia and other complications. To say they saved my life is an understatement, without them I would not be here now. Very family supportive. They were always there 24/7.

My only comment being, that some of the cleaners require instruction on how to do the job PROPERLY. Never mind moving items with the sweeping mop, it should have been picked up physically and moved, otherwise you spread germs & possible infections by just shunting items, chairs, wastebins etc around on the floor.

Nursing staff and doctors are the best I have ever come across and I have been in hospitals a number of times.

They are the best of the best.

Dave Foster - Ex Respiratory ICU

What could be improved

Sort out the cleaners-I know its not everyone's cup of tea, BUT they play an important role in keeping infection and germs at bay - IF - they do their job properly and NOT possibly spread infections-germs etc by just shunting furniture, wastebins etc around.

Their standard of dusting is poor, a quick lick round might do them, but as a man, not particually skilled at this art, my qualities are higher than their's.

Where is their supervision, cleaners came and went, nobody appeared to check & I was in the hospital for two weeks and never did see anyone check the standard of work.

Fluff and some dust were still present a week later. These comments apply to part of a ward, NOT ICU and are made with an honest opinion. I owe the Glenfield a lot-my life.
