"Short staffed or absent minded"

About: Southport & Formby District General Hospital

Anything else?

I attended A&E with a broken leg - I expected and understand that triage and ambulances determine priority but once I was taken through I was over the next 4-5 hours given an apology by the doctor who forgot to come back to me about the results of the x-ray - apology from the nurse plastering for forgetting about me in the plaster room - a further apology to my son who had approached another nurse for assistance who then forgot to relay the message to the plaster nurse - apology from receptionist who was away from reception for over 15 minutes who needed to arrange an appointment for fracture clinic next week My 7 hour treatment could have been halved - no nurse or doctor seemed to be sitting around or doing nothing so I can only presume they were grossly undertaffed - very poor service for my first visit to southport A&E No painkiller or advice offered apart from not standing on plaster -

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience in the Accident and Emergency department at Southport hospital. Jayne Norbury, the matron for this department, would very much like hear your story first hand. She would be grateful if you could call her on 01704 70 4212 at your convenience.
