"Went on Ward 8 for a tonsilectomy, ..."

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

What I liked

Went on Ward 8 for a tonsilectomy, I am 25 and was really worried because of all the so called risks of bleeding afterwards everyone had told me about. Anyway had it done but ended up back in 5 days later with a nasty bleed. I would like to thank the doctor here for all his help and advise that he gave me and his quick action. what a star and the nurses were great too.

What could be improved

the waiting before the opetation could be done differently,, I still didn't know at 4pm if my operation would go ahead due to availability of beds, two people were sent home out of six of us waiting. Having an operation no matter how big or small is still trauma in most peoples lives..Very uncomfortable chairs in waiting area, very boring with nothing to help the mind relax, day room with TV or some music might have helped..One staff nurse seemed to be running around doing everything. Did feel sorry for her.
