My mother was admitted with broken thigh bone. Moved to ward at 9pm. My father and I were asked to wait in the corridor while staff transferered her to ward bed from A & E bed. One porter, A & E healthcare assistant, two nurses and a healthcare assistant where present to move her and in trying to get the board they use to move patients on underneath her they lifted her by pulling on her broken thigh. She shouted out in pain. Staff responded by telling her they needed to move her to the ward bed, my mother asked for moment to catch her breath and was told my the Health care assistant ' we can't stand around here we have other patients to look after' I was horrified torn between rushing in and confronting the group of staff and knowing I would have to leave my mother in their care overnight. As he left the porter apologised. Nursing staff left telling us they would be back later to changemum into a hospital gown. Not wanting my mum to suffer more than neccesary I asked for a gown so I could help her change her before I left. whihc I did, but found out the following morning staff had made her change a second time after my father and I left. A mum suffers from osteoporosis and the thought of her being re-admitted in the furture fills me with dread and horror.
