"Disappointed"

About: The Midlands NHS Treatment Centre

Anything else?

Having went to the Treatment centre with my father for a cataract consultation I was very disappointed. My father was advised by one nurse that is eyes when wearing glasses were perfectly fine for driving and did not need the operation, so my father said fine as long as he's able to drive then he was happy as where he lives public transport is very limit and enjoyed his independance. We then went through to see the consultant and he said that my father was border line with his sight and would advise having the operation. So who do you listen to?? - I would suggest the consultant but when we were sent back to the nurse to get my fathers eyes measured for lenses nurse was very off with us and said she didn't know why my father was having the operation. We stated we had been advised by the consultant that probably six months down the line my fathers eye sight would no longer be good enough for him to drive and she said that was "rubbish"!!!!! Very flipant attitude - I was very cross and suggested that she and the consultant should talk to one another and agree who was going to give the advice and that they should agree on what is being said to a patient. I must say that the consultant was very pleasant and my disappointment is with the nurse. My father is now on a waiting list so we'll see what happens next
