My four year old daughter was promptly seen by a nurse soon after we arrived. Nurses in the children's A&E waiting room recognised the potential seriousness of her head injury and also my concern for her. They provided a blanket for her during our short wait and escalated my daughter up the triage list when they saw she was becoming extremely lethargic. She was then promptly seen by a doctor. The first doctor was very thorough and consulted with her senior colleague. It was quickly decided that a CT scan was required and this was efficiently organised. After the scan, my daughter was transferred to a ward for observation. Fortunately the CT scan was normal and my daughter began to recover from her concussion. During the observation period we discovered the TV didn't work. The nurse kindly wheeled in a TV unit for us to use with a selection of DVDs. We were discharged a few hours later after a thorough final examination by a doctor. All staff showed considerable empathy and care towards both my daughter and myself. We were kept informed and decisions were explained to us in detail. We did not feel rushed and were confident that we were being dealt with thoroughly and professionally. Thanks to all the staff who looked after us!
