In the last 12 months we have invested £100,000 in additional housekeeping assistants -for a new evening service and new equipment costing nearly £50,000 The equipment purchased includes 5 steam cleaners, 6 floor polishes 53 new cleaning trolleys, a sit on scrubber dryer and a new microfibre cleaning system which is recognised as best practice. A Rapid Response Team has also been set up which amounts to 5 whole time equivalent and covers the hospital 7 days a week from 12pm until 20.00. These staff are able to attend to emergency spills and cleaning as required.

During 2007 the A&E department at Stafford Hospital underwent a complete refurbishment at a cost of £817,000.
