I was under the care of one-2-one midwives. After being in labour for neatly 24 hours at home I insisted I was transferred to hospital. I do feel I was not given enough support and guidance by 1-2-1 and feel badly let down by them. On arriving at the women's a wonderful midwife and the doctor took over my care. Things did not go smoothly and an anaesthetics, was also involved. The care I got , especially from the midwife was exceptional. She was amazing and helped not only me but my partner through a difficult few hours. She stayed beyond her shift and even came to visit me on the ward the following evening. If it was not for her care, the wonderful analyst isn't and dr I would not be here today holding a beautiful baby boy. I must say that having a baby at home is a wonderful option, but if you need emergency care a hospital is the best place to be and you can get no better than the care I received. The care on the ward afterwards was stretched because I feel the midwife running the ward had no support. She did her best but could not care for us the way she wanted.
