"Hip Replacement"

About: The Horder Centre - St Johns Road

Anything else?

I was at the Horder Centre for a hip replacement. I was surprised to receive an epidural when I thought we had agreed that I would not and was also surprised that the follow-up consultation did not include a physical examination. Nursing, physiotherapy and associated care was excellent. Food was adequate if uninspiring. There was no hot food available for breakfast. My room was spacious and clean but rather plain with little natural light. There was no proper reading light and the TV was poorly sited in relation to the bed. Overall the experience was better than an NHS general hospital but hotel services were not so good by the general standards of private hospitals. If I had been a self pay patient, I would have been a little disappointed.

Hot food can be made available at breakfast if requested by a patient. Our menu is based on recognisable dishes to cater for a wide spectrum of people, designed to aid recovery with freshly cooked ingredients from locally sourced seasonal produce. When we fall short of our patients' expectations it is taken very seriously. In order for us to improve our service, please do get in touch with the Centre to discuss your experience.
