"A waste of resources"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I saw Mr Ashok, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, at The Sir Robert Peel Hospital, Tamworth, who arranged for me to have an injection in my hip at Good Hope.

After telephoning several times to discover when this might be, as I had not received the expected appointment, I had the injection in May. This went well and I was to have the next appointment in six weeks.

For some reason this was postponed and I was eventually seen in late July. I arrived for the appointment only to find that the surgeon could not help as he had no information about me. He requested another X-ray but without the notes he was at a loss how to proceed and has requested another appointment in two weeks time. It will be interesting to see if this actually transpires.

This seems to me to be a failure in the administration system which has wasted my time as well as the doctor’s time and has unnecessarily wasted NHS money.
