"The consultant, when we finally ..."

About: Stafford Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The consultant, when we finally saw him was courteous and provided most of the information we required. The dietician is always helpful.

What could be improved

On the last two visits to A&E during the past year I have waited 5 hours before being seen. At each out-patient appointment I am kept waiting for at least an hour. At the last one, the surgeon was in theatre and I was seen by his senior registrar. He conducted the consultation standing up by the door and looked in a hurry to get out. I had prepared well for the consultation and he didn't know the answers to my questions. He said he was a locum for 3 weeks and asked me to wait for a further hour until the consultant finished in theatre. This did not inspire me with confidence.
