"Consultant made me feel valued as a person"

I am currently under Stepping Hill for maternity services and have found the service so outstanding so far I felt I had to write.

I'm under Dr Pickerscale (sorry if I've misspelled the name) and wanted to say what an excellent doctor he is. I had a previous really bad maternity experience at a neighbouring hospital which had left me very anxious but after meeting with my consultant I was immediately reassured and made to feel valued as a person.

Everyone I have come into contact with from reception staff to sonographers, to health care assistants, midwives and doctors have been amazing and a real asset to your trust.

It's just the small things like the sonographers letting you look at the screen while they are doing the scan that make such a difference (the last trust I used purposely turned the screen away from you and on the 20 week scan don't speak to you until its done then show you your baby on screen for about 20-30 seconds, which makes for a very worrying 30min experience as you don't know if everything is ok with your baby)

Ive had to have an operation during my pregnancy and was so anxious but everyone on the delivery suite looked after me so well and were so reassuring. They even gave my visiting 1 year old a sandwich as he was there at lunch time.

I hope this gets back to all the staff on the maternity service as I would like them to know how professional they all are.
