"Could have been better"

About: Barnet Hospital

Anything else?

Having been referred to the fracture clinic after a fracture that was diagnosed at a walk in clinic I arrived at my appointment time of 10.00 am. I was finally seen around 11.20. The doctor was helpful as was the nurse who put on the air cast boot ( as a result of me travelling in the next few days which I now realise has been helpful rather than a fixed cast and i really appreciate it ). I'm a fit and healthy person and this is the first time I was in hospital - I was in pain and over whelmed by the whole experience. I don't think the staff I was seen by really realised that I couldn't take in all the instructions which were brief and quick, let alone remember them. They need to make sure we understand whats involved. I am relying on the Internet and hope the advice I read is correct!

As an organisation we are committed from learning from specific issues and from any mistakes we may have made. Hearing about where we can do better helps us to pinpoint where exactly to make improvements to the service we provide. The Trust apologies for the poor understanding of information. Please contact the Trust on bcfpals@nhs.net if you wish to provide your details and get a more detailed response from the fracture clinic Matron regarding your instructions and advice.
