"Complete disgrace!"

About: Worthing Hospital

Anything else?

Today I called up delivery suite at 7am to make sure it was ok to come in for my elective c-section that was booked weeks ago for this specific day (23/07/13) having a c section is a must for me due to complications. I arrive at Worthing delivery suite at 7:45am and am put into a very cold boxes room with a rubber bed and a birthing pool and that's pretty much it. I sit in this uncomfortable room for nearly 2 hours until a midwife comes in to tell me they are short staffed so c section won't be till the afternoon. At 1:30 I get told I will have my section at around 3pm so at 2:45 I get my baby's clothes out ready and prepare. It gets to 5:30 and I've heard nothing and by this time I have say in this room with no food or drink for over 9 & 1/2 hours, even my partner wasn't offered a drink or anything. At around 5:45 my mother comes to see me as I was upset and she says to staff either my daughter is having her section or she isn't and if not I'm taking her home for food because this is ridiculous. The staff assured us that baby will be delivered today and half hour later a nurse is there to give me drugs and prep me for theatre, 1 hour later a doctor i had never seen comes in to tell me my c section was cancelled due to another emergency section and that I need to go back 2 days later for my section as there's no spaces for the next day. Child care for my daughter had been difficult to arrange and in the end was a complete waste of time, all the preparation at home was a waste of effort and time, waste of fuel and money spent at hospital, family and partner losing money taking time off work to see there son/ grandson ect and most of all I feel completely angered and upset about an occasion that should be the most amazing experience! I cry at the thought of having to go back to the hospital Thursday to bring my son into the world because no-one cares about you there, there's a lot of staffing issues that has effected me big time today!!
