I'm devastated to say that what was meant to be the best experience of my life turned out to be the worst, I was due to have my second baby Olivia on the 29th of September 2012, I was booked at queen Elizabeth I went in to the hospital at 37 weeks sure that my waters went they put me in a cubical awaiting a doctor when a doctor finally came they scanned me and said although they found it hard to read the scan that they were sure my waters had not gone and sent me home without swabbing me, I continued with my pregnancy until my sweep at 40 weeks and 3 days which started my labour that night, I went to the hospital and was admitted to delivery straight away, when I got there I was examined and given an epidural at my request, the midwife looking after me was a bank midwife from another hospital, she seemed very lazy and very unorganised she didn't know where anything was and spent the majority of the time looking for things in and out the room, she also called a doctor or head midwife to canulate me and was told by this woman "you shouldn't be calling me for this, this lady has perfect veins to canulate" she then canulated me and left the room my baby was monitored thorough out my labour on the machine, the anesthetist told me before he left the room to make sure my blood pressure gets done for 15 mins after I had topped up my epidural, the midwife did not keep up with this instead knowing my mother is a qualified HCA she had asked her to do this, then when it came to my next examination being due she was over an hour late to do it, I then got the urge to push at which point she decided to examine me and said I was 9cm dilated and she then tried to pop my waters and nothing but meconium came out so she noted this I told her again I feel like pushing and she told me "no don't push yet I haven't hot your delivery cart ready" I ended up pushing half of the time without her assistance because she was busy looking for things, I really struggled to push my baby out which I later found out this was due to the cord being wrapped 3 times around Olivia's neck, another midwife just walked into the room when I was mid pushing to ask my midwife something my mum then pleaded with that midwife to stay and help my midwife as I was struggling her reply was "your in good hands" and then when I was pushing she realised my baby was tacicardic and stayed to help they both ended up pulling on my baby's head to get her out once she was out a paediatrician was called and in the room my baby was showing no signs of improvement so my mum said to her "she had meconium suction her she's struggling" the paediatrician replied "I will I just don't have the right equipment" and she wasn't calling anyone to help either so my mum ran out and got the midwife who canulated me who took one look at my daughter and said press the emergency buzzer so my mum did, meanwhile the bank midwife was dealing with my placenta between my legs on my bed and cut something which made blood Spray
