"2nd unexpected stay"

Anything else?

At the end of May I came in for my second lot of spinal injections in the Lister Sugicentre. All staff were very kind and welcoming and explained all I needed to know and gave me the opportunity to ask any questions I might have. Last year I did have rather a long wait (no-one's fault, an emergency I believe) between being prepped and actually going in but this year a much quicker turn around and I was in for treatment within about three hours of being in the department. My consultant and the anaesthetist were both lovely - as usual, and were very careful with me as I was in considerable pain that day. I was back in my 'bed' before I knew it and being well looked after. Unfortunately for me, because my leg ended up being temporarily paralysed I ended up having to stay for a couple of nights. The day dept staff were great and I was given as long as possible for the feeling to return but they had also arranged a place for me on the ward just in case. The ward staff were (with one possible exception) very kind and helpful both day and night. The duty doctor was very good and came to see me a few times each day to check on my progress, the registrar(??) who had assisted with my treatment also came to see me and advised I stay the second night. I was provided with crutches on the third day to enable me to mobilise and two physios came to make sure I could use them safely - then I was allowed home! Unbeknown to me my lovely consultant also came to see me that day but I had already left, this sort of care and attention means an awful lot so thank you to everyone concerned. This hospital is rather a long way from home but I asked for referral there so that I could continue to have treatment with my consultant in whom I have total trust and confidence.
